2024 SM&P Super Lawyers Announced

Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor is proud to announce five of their attorneys have been recognized state-wide for their competence and influence in the legal field. The 2024 Georgia Super Lawyers named Partners Ryan Proctor and Melanie Prehodka as super lawyers, and Dominic Jones, Caitlyn Lindsay-Hood and Catherine Sartain named Rising Stars. Only five percent of Georgia lawyers are chosen as Georgia Super Lawyers, and no more than 2.5 percent are recognized by their peers as Super Lawyers and Rising Stars.

The objective of Super Lawyers is to create a comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys to be used as a resource for both referring attorneys and consumers seeking legal counsel.

“We are excited to have two of our attorneys recognized as Super Lawyers, as well as three Rising Stars (under 40),” said Mary Montgomery, SM&P’s founder and managing partner. “These honors enhance our reputation as a preeminent divorce and family law firm, and we are so proud of the honors given these attorneys.”

The firm’s honorees, like everyone on the SM&P team, stay fully informed of updates in Georgia family law to provide each client with the best outcome. They have represented hundreds of Georgia clients, including those in Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Cherokee, Gwinnett, Paulding, Hall, Bartow, and now the counties surrounding Savannah. Each SM&P recipient has a background and special qualities that make them “Super Lawyers”:

To Ryan Proctor, “the firm is very proud of the Rising Stars and Super Lawyers that have been recognized over the years. The fact that these are peer nominated makes the recognition more fulfilling. A lawyer can have no better accomplishment that the respect of her or his peers.”

Melanie Prehodka was honored to receive this recognition.  “During my 27 years of practice, my primary goal has been to strike the right balance between listening to my clients and promoting their best interests while being respectful of what the law requires and safeguarding the reputation of SM&P and me for being the utmost professionals worthy of the highest regard of our peers. When our peers and the courts trust our professionalism, this helps us represent our clients because the courts and our fellow attorneys know that we are trustworthy and very good at what we do.”

To Dominic Jones, his recognition as a Rising Star is to stand among a select group of up-and-coming legal professionals known for their integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to justice. “It also is a testament to the support and acknowledgement of some of my peers in the legal community that believe I am committed to excellence in the practice of law.”

Caitlyn Lindsey-Hood noted she was honored to have been selected by the legal community as a Rising Star. “Being selected is a badge of respect that lets others know we have the respect of our colleagues and the public. The nomination represents a title of being honored for a lifetime of dedicated work.

Catherine Sartain’s recognition is something she is very proud of and is committed to continuing to provide the level of service, and respect those recognized are living up to. “I am thrilled and honored to be recognized as a Rising Star, particularly as I just entered my 2nd year of practice. I look forward to continuing to represent and advocating for my clients and striving for excellence.”

Mary added, “the entire firm benefits from those around us who lend advice and offer collaboration as we strive to do our best.”

Please join us in congratulating SM&P’s 2024 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars.
