Two SM&P Attorneys Named Georgia Legal Elite

Each year, Georgia Trend seeks to feature the state’s top attorneys. They ask those who know them best – their legal peers – to submit nominations and from their nominations a list is compiled of the Legal Elite. This year marks the more than 20 years lawyers from all over the State have been recognized and considered the best in their field.

Only one in 20 attorneys earns this distinction. This year, Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor’s Partner Ryan A. Procter and Senior Associate Anne Thompson de Magaña, were chosen by their colleagues to be recognized as two of the state’s finest, and members of the 2024 Georgia Legal Elite.

According to SM&P’s founding and managing partner Mary Montgomery, it is no surprise these two members of our team were recommended by their peers as 2024 Georgia Legal Elite attorneys. “Because our team works so well together, sharing expertise and ideas, each attorney benefits and excels, as do their clients,” said Mary. “This recognition reflects well on everyone here – it’s a great accomplishment.”

Georgia Legal Elite received nominations from almost 2,000 attorneys representing 16 practice areas from all regions of the state. Those receiving the most votes are listed in the December 2024 issue of Georgia Trend Magazine in the categories in which their fellow attorneys chose them, although some may practice in more than one area.

“It’s rewarding and humbling to be recognized by my peers in this way,” noted Ryan Proctor, According to the three-time recipient, Ryan considers it to be an honor not only for himself, but for his team members and co-workers at the firm who work as hard or harder to maintain the highest level of commitment to the practice of law and to our clients.

To five-year recipient of the honor, Anne, she is flattered, honored and a little overwhelmed with gratitude for this recognition in the criminal practice area. “It’s easy to feel like you’re in a vacuum when working in this profession, and it’s also easy to feel, at times, like the only feedback you get is negative with very little appreciation for the positive. Receiving honors like this means more to me than words can say,” Anne added.

According to Mary Montgomery, founder and managing partner, she is proud of the SM&P awardees. “Both of these attorneys have made a commitment to their profession and serving their clients,” Mary said. “We are fortunate to have them on our team.”
