The Center for Family Resources honors Victoria Turney for contributions to Thanks for Giving program

The Center for Family Resources honored its most distinguished board and committee members and volunteers during its second annual Pep Rally in the Delta360 Club at SunTrust Park Thursday evening, April 27.

The Atlanta Braves-themed event, which drew more than 200 attendees, was in conjunction with National Volunteer Week and an opportunity to recognize the past year’s outstanding volunteers, donors, and staff of the Center for Family Resources. Awards were given for dedication in service to the organization and its mission throughout 2016.

For her service as co-chair of the massive Thanks for Giving food drive during both 2015 and 2016, the Center for Family Resources presented Victoria Turney with a recognition award thanking her for her dedication to the event. Last year alone, the 31st annual Thanks for Giving program fed nearly 1,000 Cobb County families during the holiday season, and saw a record-breaking number of both volunteers and donated food items. Even after achieving such goals, Victoria is continuing to lend her expertise and insight to the Center for Family Resources’ 2017 Thanks for Giving committee, which is already preparing for the event this coming November.

The Pep Rally awards ceremony also served as a kickoff to the Center for Family Resources’ 2017 Annual Fund Campaign, which is seeking to reach a $100,000 funding goal to help provide emergency housing, adult education and employment search aid to hundreds of Cobb County families. The Center for Family Resources had a 93% success rate for its housing program during the fourth quarter of 2016, meaning the vast majority of families entering the program successfully completed it and moved into their own permanent, independent housing situations.
