SM&P Sponsors the Woodstock Marine Corps League’s Rip Masters Golf Tournament
For more than 30 years, the team at Stearns-Montgomery and Proctor has sponsored special events throughout metro Atlanta with the objectives of helping children and those less fortunate.
More than 100 golfers and volunteers converged May 7, 2018 on the Cobblestone Golf Course in Acworth, Georgia to support the Woodstock Marine Corps League’s annual Rip Masters Golf Tournament. The Major General Warren R. Johnson detachment of the League held their fundraiser to benefit the Master Sergeant “Rip” Masters Memorial Scholarship Fund. The most successful to date, this year’s tournament, including the associated breakfast, lunch, raffle, and auction, raised more than $11,000.
According to Detachment Commandant Rich Sabo, this year’s tournament was the most successful. “We could not have done it without the help of the sponsors and foursomes.” Tournament Coordinator Ron Welborn, commented that organizations such as SM&P make it possible for scholarship recipients to get the financial help they need.
Funds raised will be awarded to students who have achieved academic excellence and demonstrated leadership qualities as Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) cadets, Cherokee County Eagle and Gold Girl Scouts, Marine dependents, and members of the detachments.
“When we support the worthy goals of these young people,” said SM&P founder and partner Mary Montgomery, “our whole community benefits, now and into the far future. We were honored to participate.”
