We all scream for ice cream! At the SM&P offices throughout the Atlanta area, our screams were answered. Founding and managing partner Mary Montgomery shared America’s favorite frozen dessert with everyone at the firm in celebration of the 36th National Ice Cream Day.
In 1984, President Reagan declared July National Ice Cream Month and July 15 National Ice Cream Day. “Ice cream is a nutritious and wholesome food, enjoyed by over ninety percent of the people in the United States,” stated the proclamation. “It enjoys a reputation as the perfect dessert and snack food.” Reagan encouraged Americans to celebrate one of the nation’s favorite treats with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.” The resolution was intended for that year only, but the ice cream industry has continued the tradition every year since on the third Sunday (or sundae?) of July.
It could not have come at a better time — amid possibly the most challenging year in decades, we could all use a frosty dairy delight to help us cheer up and cool down. “Everyone here is going the extra mile to keep our clients on track with their legal cases under very difficult circumstances,” said Mary. “They all deserve the reward of this small indulgence. I chose the iconic ice cream sandwich this year.”
“The only thing better than ice cream,” said Legal Assistant Alanna Dae, “is ice cream surrounded by the taste of chocolate!” Rumor is that no treat went unclaimed.
