SM&P Announces New Partner
Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor (SM&P), a leading divorce and family law firm, is proud to announce Judy D. Sartain as our firm’s newest partner. Judy has been a valuable member of the SM&P team since 2019 and has consistently proven her work ethic to us and, more importantly, to her clients.
“One of our greatest pleasures is promoting from within the firm because it shows there is no ceiling at SM&P,” said Mary Montgomery, founder and managing partner. Heading up the Gainesville office, Mary added, “Judy is always achieving milestones personally and professionally. She has built a team of excellence and has given her all to ensure her team grows as well. Her years of experience in all areas of family law, have proven to be an asset to SM&P, which we are grateful for.”
“SM&P’s care and compassion for our clients is what makes us a leader in the industry,” Judy noted, “and I’m glad they took the chance on me four years ago and agreed to broaden our family law representation to include all areas of adoption law.”
Having adopted two children from Russia, Judy brought a unique skill set to add to the SM&P arsenal – a passion for adoption cases. She has finalized more than 900 adoptions in her career as part of her family law focus.
Judy graduated from the John Marshall Law School, Atlanta in 1995 with her law degree and has been practicing divorce and family law since that time.
Judy is a fellow with the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorney and Georgia Council of Adoption Lawyers. She was also recently recognized with the Angel Adoption Congressional Award in Washington DC.
Beside advocating for her clients, she has lived in Georgia since 1981 and in Gainesville on Lake Lanier since 1994. She enjoys boating and traveling, especially to Destin, Florida. An avid Georgia Bulldogs football fan, she can be found on Saturdays in the Fall watching the game either with family and friends or at Stanford Stadium.
Judy added having the opportunity to closely interact with the other Partners, she is “delighted at the chance to become a Partner with SM&P. It remains our joint goal to improve the firm in every way possible and continue to offer the premier legal services to our clients.”
“Judy is an extraordinary attorney who works tirelessly to achieve the best possible results for her clients,” Mary concluded.
All of us here at SMP congratulate Judy on her well-earned partnership.
