‘Que & Brew Tailgate Party Benefited LiveSafe Resources
We love football season! ‘Que & Brew attendees kicked it off with a day of food, team spirit, and fun during the ultimate tailgate party at the Taylor-Brawner Park in Smyrna on October 22. Victoria Turney, client relations director at SM&P, said, “The tailgate had something for everyone.”
Five nationally-ranked BBQ teams competed to wow the hundreds of guests with their fabulous food and amazing rigs. A variety of other tailgate eats was available from area restaurants. Fans washed down their food with more than 30 beer varieties from the best breweries around or, for the non-beer-drinkers, softer drinks, while watching their favorite teams on the big screen or competing in the cornhole tournament co-hosted by Cornhole Atlanta.
“The party raised almost $42,000,” said LiveSafe Resources (LSR) executive director, Tracy Atwater. “We are able to do so much thanks to support from people like those at SM&P. “We really appreciate the firm’s help with and interest in our work.”
These funds will benefit LSR, a 24/7 operation that has been creating awareness of abuse, fostering support, and saving lives in this community since 1917. The agency offers safety and healing to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse.
LSR is the only non-profit partnering with law enforcement, the DA’s office, and WellStar Health System to provide emergency services and outreach to sexual assault victims in Cobb, Cherokee, and Paulding counties. The organization runs the only domestic violence shelter in Cobb County and also provides other resources, including case management, counseling, legal advocates assisting with obtaining temporary protective orders, and transitional housing where women and children can stay for up to two years.
“‘Que & Brew was a great success!” said Molly Nash, LSR’s development coordinator. “We had the highest attendance yet, on a beautiful fall day, and raised a lot of money with the support of the community and sponsors. With your support,” she told the SM&P team, “we will continue to provide much-needed services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse.”
“Legal advice provided by firms such as ours is very important in helping clients put their lives back together,” SM&P founder and managing partner Mary Montgomery said, “but it’s only part of the solution. LSR reaches out with a range of other critical services that help ensure long-term and consistent benefits for the community they serve.”
