Moving Company Helps Domestic Violence Victims Relocate
As shelter-in-place orders to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 have forced residents inside together, domestic violence incidences are on the rise. To aid these victims, a national moving company, College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving, announced April 20 that they are offering free services to those who need help moving into a safe place to escape abusive partners.
The moving company has 130 locations nationwide, six in the Atlanta area. Its east Atlanta franchise owners, Daniel De Las Casas and Bill Castle, have been in contact with local domestic violence shelters to spread the word about their services.
“The way we approached it was: How do we keep our people employed and help our community in this time of need?” said De Las Casas. Shelters can contact the company to set up moving assistance once they have a client in need of relocation.
