Field of Flags 2021
SM&P team members Victoria Turney and Sherri Dombi took part in the patriotic Field of Flags Ceremony on September 4 at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. They walked with 1,300 others carrying American flags from Grace Community Church on Kennesaw Avenue in Marietta to the Battlefield. There, they posted their flags to show respect for those who died or risked their lives during 9/11. This year, an additional 13 flags at half-staff were installed in honor of those service members killed recently in Afghanistan.
Mary Montgomery, founding and managing partner at SM&P, said, “Someone at our firm almost always attends or is involved in every event in the area honoring and supporting veterans. I believe this was one of the most touching ceremonies they were part of this year.”
“Being in a procession with hundreds of people with one heart solemnly bearing our flags in memory and honor of our special heroes just gave me chills,” said Sherri. “You could feel the reverence all around.”
Victoria walked with Sherri. They want to let everyone know that if they missed the display this year, it will be in place again in five years, 2026.
