Cobb Justice Foundation conducts annual business at the office of SMP

Last month members of the Cobb Justice Foundation (CJF) met at the Marietta office of Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor (SMP) for the Foundation’s annual board meeting. The annual Board of Directors meeting includes all of the Chief Judges of the Cobb court’s as well as the Presidents of the Cobb Bar, the Family Law section, as well as the Cobb/Atlanta Legal Aid Director.

As a member at large, SMP founder and partner Mary Montgomery offers her office and serves as hostess to the group as they discuss the issues at hand and ways they can continue to connect low-income Cobb County residents to private attorneys for pro bono representation. Cobb County’s Superior Court Honorables Mary Staley-Clark and Tain Kell, Superior Court, Kelli Wolk, Presiding Judge Probate Court, and Joyette Holmes, Magistrate Court were among those on hand at the annual meeting.

The CJF is a special pro bono project of legal aid of Cobb County. Legal Aid of Cobb County provides free legal services and education to individuals living at or below poverty level in a variety of civil legal matters. Since 1991, the Legal Aid of Cobb County’s partnership with the local judiciary and leaders within the community, created the strategic initiative to increase volunteer and financial support for legal Aid.

Today, CJF recruits more than 200 active volunteers who take care of more than 400 Legal Aid of Cobb County clients and raises money and awareness to support the program.
