Little Richard’s Band Holds Concert in Canton
A documentary was recently filmed about the life of Little Richard, the Architect of Rock and Roll, and the surviving members of Little Richard’s band. A commemorative concert was held outside of the Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor’s Canton office with the men with whom Little Richard exclusively performed for the entire second half of his legendary career.
According to the documentary’s producer, the documentary will end with the concert at The Mill On Etowah. “When we heard of sponsorship opportunities,” said Partner Melanie Prehodka, “we at SMP wanted to offer our support to this unique effort to engage the Canton, Georgia community in a bit of music history.”
Everyone was excited to bring Little Richard’s actual band to Canton. According to event executives, the documentary of the Band will share their unique life story about performing with the Little Richard.
“It was not just a concert but an all-day event with the concert being the conclusion for the day,” added Melanie. The Tutti Frutti Music Festival selected The Mill On Etowah (voted the best venue to see live music 2024) to include a day of great food, drinks and activities.
The event activities included talented artists performing throughout the day including DJs, personalities and celebrity friends. If you enjoyed people watching, shopping at pop-up vendors tents, having a great cigar and a cocktail, or dancing to great live music, the festival was the place to celebrate and pay tribute to by Little Richard’s band and the city of Canton, Georgia. Other performers included Buddy Red, a rising blues musician who just happens to be the son of T.I. Harris.
