September 2021 Newsletter
August brought the usual back-to-school busy-ness and occasional chaos. Even those without children often get caught up in it as they tangle with crowds at department stores and maneuver through metro-area traffic. COVID also took somewhat of a summer recess until it, too, returned as the more contagious Delta variant. Please check out our COVID guidelines to update yourself on how we continue to help to keep everyone safe in all our offices as we work with you on your legal needs and challenges.
SM&P staff joined volunteers across the area to clean up local rivers through the annual Rivers Alive initiative partnership. Learn about the progress that was made on our Chattahoochee River inside the perimeter.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic 9-11 events through the Field Of Flags commemoration. See what activities one of our communities is planning to remember that tragic day and how you can join us.

Rivers Alive
Georgia’s 70,150 miles of streams and rivers received a little help on August 14 when five members of SM&P joined other volunteers to take a pleasant respite from their busy day-to-day lives to support the Rivers Alive initiative. The statewide cleanup is held annually as part of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division Outreach Program. It targets all waterways in the state, including streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands.
Participate in Field of Flags Ceremony
SM&P encourages you to join them in participating in a special commemoration of 9/11 this month, its 20th anniversary. You can register to bring the whole family and friends to carry flags in the processional. There is no charge to take part in this meaningful event. You can also find out how to sponsor a flag, when and where to attend the memorial service to hear the names called of those lost on 9/11, and even share a personal memory of that day.
