Hunter Rosich

Staff Attorney

A Georgia native, Hunter was born in Locust Grove and grew up in the country outside Eatonton. He stayed close to home for college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Georgia. While in Athens, Hunter learned under his mentor, John F. Lyndon, running documents from courthouse to courthouse and poring over old case law alongside him. That experience sparked a passion for family law that has guided his career ever since.

Hunter went on to earn his law degree from the University of Arkansas, where he won a trial advocacy competition. He then returned to Georgia to serve as a staff attorney in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, working with five different judges over two years, primarily Judge Terry Massey. Sitting on the bench gave Hunter a rare view of how judges think, weigh evidence, and reach decisions, insight he now uses to build strategies that succeed in court.

Hunter’s time on the bench also introduced him to Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor. “Some of the most impressive attorneys I came across were Stearns lawyers who appeared in our courtroom,” he said. “I wanted to learn from them and practice alongside them. Stearns is an established family law firm, but it’s still close-knit enough that everyone knows everyone.”

Hunter cares deeply about his clients and their best interests, so much so that he has been called a “bleeding heart attorney.” Clients describe him as responsive and say he quickly puts them at ease. Having grown up in rural Georgia, Hunter connects naturally with clients from small towns and country communities, who appreciate an attorney who understands where they come from. His easygoing, steady presence lends itself to productive negotiation and mediation, but when a client’s interests are on the line, he does not hesitate to take a firm stance.

“Family law is personal,” Hunter said. “My clients are going through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and I want them to know they have someone in their corner who genuinely cares how things turn out for them.”

“Hunter has seen the courtroom from the judge’s side of the bench, and that perspective is invaluable to our clients,” said Mary Montgomery, founding and managing partner of the firm. “Combine that with his compassion and the ease he has with people, and he will be a tremendous asset to clients at our Savannah office and to the firm at large.”

A total outdoorsman, Hunter spends his free time deer and duck hunting, fishing offshore on his boat with his golden retriever Sadie, or out on the golf course.
