Emily Harris

Associate Attorney

Emily Harris is an experienced attorney based in the firm’s Buckhead office, bringing over a decade of legal experience to Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor. Raised around the legal profession, Emily was introduced to the practice of law at an early age through her father, a longtime attorney. She began doing clerical work in his office at just 15 years old and continued throughout law school, giving her a practical, firsthand understanding of the legal industry long before becoming an attorney herself.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Stetson University in 2003, where she also competed as a Division I softball player at shortstop. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School in 2009. Following law school, Emily spent 10 years practicing criminal law, developing a strong foundation in advocacy, strategy, and courtroom procedure.

Known for her straightforward, methodical approach, Emily is candid with her clients and believes in telling them the truth, even when it may be difficult to hear. She is firm when necessary, strategic in her decision-making, and willing to compromise when it serves her client’s best interests. Clients often describe her as “straight to business,” valuing her efficiency, clarity, and respect for their time.

Originally from the Atlanta area, Emily now lives Decatur with her spouse and two sons. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family including her two dogs, Maggie and Charlie.
