Melanie Norvell has been practicing law for more than 25 years. In fact, Melanie would tell you that her father, Ray Norvell, a previous Dekalb and Rockdale County Superior Court Judge, was the primary reason for her passion in practicing law. Once Ray left the Superior Court bench, he and Melanie even began to practice together in Decatur and Dunwoody. She has experience in all aspects of family law, and over the years has addressed just about every issue associated with divorce, custody, alimony, child support, modifications, and adoption. Melanie has also trained and supervised other attorneys on how to handle these complex family law issues.

Clients describe Melanie as very passionate and responsive, putting their needs first, making them feel like they are always a top priority, and trying to keep their expenses in check. Her goal is to make these difficult and emotional processes as painless as possible for her clients, but Melanie will also fight aggressively when needed to represent her clients’ best interests.

When not practicing law, Melanie loves spending time with horses. She rides dressage, and volunteers with Save The Horses, the Horse Rescue and Retirement Fund. Melanie enjoys all outdoor activities, including hiking and watching Atlanta Braves games.
