Toys for Tots

Because SM&P has its own Marine vet — Victoria Turney — no one was surprised to see the firm actively involved with the Marine Toys for Tots program this year. They pitched in and collected toys at their holiday party for the local organization.

The basic mission of the program, explains Victoria, is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas to help bring the joy of the holidays and send a message of hope.

“Just as you would expect from the Marines,” said Kaelyn Pruett, SM&P HR project manager, “this program is tightly and efficiently run. Since 2001, it’s has been ranked as one of the top-rated charities by Philanthropy 400. So they turn our cash and toy donations into much-appreciated benefits for as many kids as possible.”

“Toys for Tots is the perfect project for us,” said Mary Montgomery, founding and managing partner at the firm. “We get to really participate in the Christmas spirit while working with our military partners to make a real difference in our community.”

Since its beginning in 1947, Toys for Tots has delivered more than 600 million toys to children throughout the country. More than 700,000 toys have been given to more than 300,000 Atlanta-area children this year alone.
